Right, I could have sworn that two days ago the world was ending. Does anyone want to give me a sitrep? Because if no one does, I'm just going to assume xai joste vhoder-stol mjer. Well, there were demons and assassinations and Judges coming out of nowhere, so I just naturally assumed that something was going on. Aren't we apparently in a war zone or something?

Couple days ago. Sam and I went out for a beer, and on the way back one of those skittery ones--Supplicants, aren't they?--falls out of the air in front of us and kills me. A bit later, apparently they picked up its dismembered body on the shore of Lake Michigan. What the hell dismembers a Judge?

Ahhhh... hmm.

Couldn't tell you, never having actually met one. Unless it happened to fall back through the Rift. How dismembered was it?

Well, torn into hunks and missing bits. I haven't actually seen the body — some local police angel took care of it. And since when do we have police angels? Shouldn't that have been in the pamphlet?

Don't know about the police angels, but I've never heard of them before.

Well, that's a relief. The only thing worse than the sudden appearance of Judges would be the sudden appearance of something worse than Judges Never mind. Apparently I'm doing tautologies today.

I haven't heard about anything all that dramatic since I got here. It seems very quiet for the world ending, Jack. But I've only lived through one near-apocalypse, so what do I know?

Well, you know. Not with a bang but a whimper.

And, never mind. I started a sentence and it went mad got away from me. In ways I didn't know sentences could get away from me.
