I'm not going to make assumptions about demon social codes, but in our business, mind-reading a serious breech of trust and privacy with a number of risks to the perpetrator as well as the target.

So, hypothetically speaking, what would you do with a Wanderer with paranoid tendencies and paramilitary training who happens to have gained the ability to see into a person's subconscious?

I do apologise. It's largely a matter of instinct, still; I certainly didn't mean to make you uncomfortable.

How paranoid, and how likely to use that Rift ability against someone? I suppose if it's really a problem you could put them wherever you put that Time Agent, though the idea of doing that preemptively is a bit... well, wrong.

Assuming hypothetical familiarity with an extended timeline for said person gave us indications that se had built up a network of time triggers in computer networks, social networks, and individual psychology to bring about hir resurrection and subsequent personal security and escape on the offchance that everyone se knew turned against and murdered hir? I'd say fairly paranoid. And it's entirely possible that se'd use it against something if se thought hir interests were threatened.

I'm assuming se's with you - don't suppose living in a building with psychics and empaths would be enough to dissuade hir from causing too much trouble? Failing that... sometimes Rift powers can be switched off or changed by a psychic who knows what they're doing. I've done it before, and if you wanted me to come take a look...

Well, so long as you're not bothered by her summarily reading off all your secrets and you think it's an acceptable risk to take.

So far as I know, she's not about to go off on anyone or anything, and she doesn't have the infrastructure to lay down that kind of network here. But I'm not sure being able to see the dark halves of everyone around her is going to do much good for her mental stability. Especially as it seems like she can't unsee them.

I could always ask Elashte. One of his demons brought her in.

Elashte can read people fine, but he's new to having psychic abilities. Personally, I wouldn't invite him to rummage around in an unstable person's mind - I doubt he'd do anything intentionally, but you're not going to want any missteps. I'll stop by soon as I can. Again. At this rate, I might as well take up a room in the Main Gauche.

You know, I think you'd survive if someone shoved you through the Rift. Care to experiment?

No, you're not, and asking was a formality. In the years in which I've known you on either side of the rift, I've never seen you even obliquely threaten anyone with violence unless that person was a threat on the lines of Daleks. And since I'm pretty sure I'm not threatening to annihilate Chicago or anything, something is going on.
