[Locked to Torchwood] [Locked to Torchwood] [No, seriously, locked to Torchwood]
I'm breaking my cardinal rule of radio silence, here, but the situation warrants it.
There's a Dalek on the journals. Which means there's one in Chicago, which meanswe the world has a problem.
Long story short, Daleks are a hyperadvanced (even by 51st-century standards), genetically-engineered "master race" with the stated goal of expunging non-Dalek life from the universe. And the capacity to. Back in my universe, they and the Doctor's race waged a war across Time, and managed to pretty effectively annihilate each other but for some scattered survivors here and there, and one pocket of those survivors managed to take over Earth, rewrite its entire society, and harvest is people for genetic material to rebuild their warfleet.
They're impervious to most standard weaponry, and their weapons systems are immediately fatal to most humanoid forms of life. And their entire existence is centered on the war effort. So when I say that one Dalek could take over the world, single-handedly, I want you to know I'm not exaggerating.
[[ What follows is a complete dossier, as best as Jack can construct it from memory, of everything he knows about Daleks. It includes recommendations for engagement, which mostly boil down to "aim for the eyestalk" and "pray." ]]
