{{OOC: Aimed toward
beyondrose, but if you really want to drop in on Jack... well, he's here. Post- Repair!canon, but, you know.}}
There is, was, or will be a small coffee house in Cardiff called the Hazelnut. It is, was, or will be run by and old (in some temporal instances literally) friend of Jack's, and is, was, or will be the first place he thinks of when he needs to feel like normalcy is still possible in the world at large.
That's the thing about nudging yourself into a crook of the timestream. All of your temporal prepositions get a bit... muddled.
This is not the Hazelnut. This is a pretty good sensory replica, minus the people, of course – no matter what solipsists get down to, the fact is that crude anticipatory echoes really can't compare to the real thing. So he's sitting at a table, drinking a cup of coffee no one technically brought him, and just... enjoying the silence.
This particular Hazelnut isn't connected to any particular temporal or geographic location, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone might wander in. Just... rather unlikely.
But Jack's okay with that.

"I'm not doing anything. Snatching some quiet time. And if you want some sort of coffee monstrosity..." He glances toward the empty counter, the empty preparation area. "Well. No one's here. I take that as leave to help ourselves."

Popping out of her seat, she strolls towards the counter, calling over her shoulder, "D'ya need anything else while I'm up and about Jack? Might as well take care of it all in one fell swoop, yeah?"
Rather than walking around the counter, she just kind of climbs over the top and slides her way around looking for various things. Who knows if she actually knows what she's doing, but she's going at it with a will.

"...okay, I think we have a winner right here."
He plonks it down onto the table, following it up with a can of spray whipped cream.
"So what have you been up to, lovely Ms. Tyler?" he asks. "It's been ages since I saw you last."
Literally.

Date: 2009-02-05 07:05 am (UTC)She's currently heating things up, mixing things, finding cold things, and just all around being...bustling.
"Not a whole lot. Working at Torchwood, takin' care of kids most of the day. The ones who can't be re-assimilated into society because of alien encounters, or things like that. So I spend the day with them, working with them, things like that. It's fun a lot of the time, but really hard work. Breaks your heart some days, but it warms it too."
Peeking at him coyly from the corner of her eye, "What about you? It's been forever since I've seen you."

Date: 2009-02-05 03:51 pm (UTC)He locates the coffeebeans – at last, at last! – and starts reading through the description, finally settling on one that's supposed to have vanilla, chocolatey, cinnamony and oaky notes. Now, to find a grinder.
"I'm an ambassador." He looks back her way, leaning against the counter for a moment. "Someone actually thought it'd be a good idea to trust me with making good impressions on alien dignitaries. Somewhere, I swear, the Doctor is having double heart attacks."
